There was one change that is EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Last year, when the 300 fps was passed, it did not include the 3D. The 3D’s now have the same official arrow speed of 300fps with a 3% margin of error.
I will have the financial statements with me at the Spring Indoor. I only have one copy. If you wish to have a copy for yourself, please let me know and I will make copies prior to leaving Friday.
| National Meeting Minutes I attended the National Meeting in Las Vegas Feb 14 – 16, 2010. The meeting started with the Presidents report where Bruce updated us on the status of the campground. Currently, there are 3 investors in the KOA campground at Headquarters in Yankton. They are looking for a 4th investor who would have about a 20% share. The three current investors are: a Doctor from Yankton, (I apologize, I did not get his name) the contractor on the project and the NFAA. The campground is approximately 80% complete. We were then given a copy of the consolidated financial statements. Bruce commented that he was confident that the financials accurately reflect the financial condition of the NFAA. We then broke into our committees for the afternoon. The next morning we started on the agenda items. I will re-cap the agenda items that I did the survey on, on a separate page. On Tuesday morning we gathered to finish up the remaining agenda items. We (the directors) were presented with a 2011 budget that showed a loss of $55,300. In years past the NFAA has lost money, and the WAF has shown a profit. The profit is then transferred from the WAF to the NFAA, usually resulting in a wash for both companies. Per the accountants, this can no longer happen, thus the loss for 2011. Several directors spoke to expenses that could be cut, but the total was not $55,300. An agenda item was presented again (it had already been defeated) that would make the National meeting a bi-annual event. This item was amended to read that it would be for a two year trial period, then it passed. So, there will not be a meeting in Feb, 2011, but there will be a meeting in Feb 2012. This will give the directors a year to work on balancing the budget, now with the knowledge that the NFAA must stand on its own. The NFAA council presented a couple of money making ideas, selling raffle tickets (I have several, the drawing will be at the 2011 Outdoor Nationals, do not need to be present to win). A second money making plan is to sell candy. Out of the $15.00 cost for each box of candy, $1.00 would go to the NFAA, and $5.00 of each box would go to the club selling the candy. The candy is Morrell’s Gourmet Chocolates, with several varieties available. In addition, each box will include coupons worth $195.00 from stores such as Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shops, Gander Mountain and Morrell Manufacturing. If anyone is interested in the candy sales, I need to notify Morrell by March 1st. Switching to misc items, the WAF is looking for a new logo, and will be holding a contest for members. The NFAA is looking to update their web site to include a link that would show where you can shoot in each state. In addition, the NFAA is exploring a member forum on its website. The dates and hosts for 2011 Tournaments are: Outdoor Nationals – July 27 to 31 in Yankton, SD. Indoor Nationals – no date set, but they will be held in Louisville. I was told that the cost for Denver came in at $40,000 and Louisville was $23,000. The one positive note was that the term is not set for 3 years, yet. I can continue to work with Jane on this issue. I firmly believe that Denver would be a wonderful host state, if not this year, then maybe the next one… WAF – for 2011 the host hotel had not been determined by the time I left Las Vegas. The Outdoor National in 2012 will be at Mechanicsburg, PA July 25 to 29.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Respectfully submitted,
Sheri Stine-Trujillo NFAA Director
